What is Direct Access Trading (DAT)

Direct Access Trading (DAT) represents the next generation of online trading that allows for direct and instant market access, assuring that there is no delay in executing orders. It provides active traders and investors the ability to effectively capture spurts of volatility and momentum in the markets, giving them the opportunity to take profits and minimize losses. DAT allows a client to trade directly with another client, a market maker on NASDAQ or specialist on the floor of an exchange, without broker interference.

DAT is the preferred trading system for active traders and investors whose success is directly correlated with the ability to see a full market picture as well as speed of execution.

Do you provide Level II quotes and technical analysis tools?
Yes. Active traders and investors cannot trade effectively if they cannot see the full depth of the market or have access to advanced technical analysis tools.
What can I buy/sell on the BPTrade System?
Providing direct access to exchanges, Market Makers and ECNs, you can trade NASDAQ, NYSE and AMEX securities as well as U.S. options.
Can I trade the after-hours market?
Yes. Our trading hours are as follows: All times in Eastern Standard Time (*)- Extended hours only apply to destinations that support extended trading.
What types of orders can I place on the BPTrade system?
BPTrade provides customers with ability to execute market, limit, stop and stop-limit orders. We also offer trailing stop and logical orders. With a logical order, orders may be framed to either take profit or limit losses on a downward price movement.
What types of order durations can I place on the BPTrade system?
BPTrade offers both Day and Good-Till-Canceled (GTC) orders. In addition, we offer FOK, Day+ and IOC orders on selected destinations.

Balances

Is Margin Credit the Margin Trade Balance?
Yes.
Is my Margin Trade Balance updated in real-time?
Yes.
Is my Total Market Value updated real time?
Yes.
How often is my Buying Power updated?
Cash and margin buying power is updated every morning before market open.
What is the definition of Margin Buying Power? How often does it update?
Margin buying power is the amount you have available to trade on margin. This would be different than overnight buying power if the user was permissioned as a daytrader, in which case margin buying power would be twice your overnight buying power amount. This value is updated each time you refresh the page.
Is Total Cash Purchase as same as the Cash Trade Balance? How often does it update?
Total Cash Purchase is the total spent on type 1 cash purchases during the current day. This value is updated each time you refresh the page.

Positions

How do you calculate the Purchase price, FIFO or Average?
The average price of all trades done through the BPTrade system is used as the purchase price for a position. If the Administrator inserts positions manually then the purchase price average may not be correct.

Trading Desk

My Trading Desk will not load up. How can this be fixed?
  1. Close all open browser windows.
  2. Uninstall any Java plug-in from Sun (Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs)
  3. Uninstall any Java plug-in from Microsoft, if applicable (Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs)
  4. Download the newest version of Java. It can be found here. (Link opens in a new window.)
  5. If you are asked to reboot, do so.
  6. Open your browser and go to your specified trading site.
  7. Log in and click on the Trading Desk button.
  8. The Trading Desk should now load.

Security Issues

Why should I be concerned about security? I have no important data on my computer.
Computer security applies to the information that you have on your computer AND all the information that you send over the Internet. By ensuring that your information transmits in secrecy, BPTrade helps prevent unauthorized individuals from gaining access to your personal or financial information.
Do I need SSL?
No. BPTrade's security is meant to replace SSL.
Can a third party read the secured data that my system is exchanging with the server?
No. BPTrade's security prevents anyone except the intended person from reading any data transmitted over the Internet.
